Why Christmas Music in November Should be Illegal

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Some say it’s the most wonderful time of the year.  I’m inclined to disagree.  How can it be the most wonderful time of year when all you hear is “it’s the most wonderful tiiiiiiime of the yeaaar” on repeat for months?  By the time you get to the actual damn holiday, you’re already burned out.

Those of you who set alarms for 12:00am on November 1st are the worst kind of people.  Who wants to be holly and jolly for two whole months?  Not me, (Christmas) Carol. After all, there is a whole other Holiday between Halloween and Christmas.  It’s called Thanksgiving.  It’s a day where we are thankful for what we have. For example, being thankful for mashed potatoes and the lack of Christmas music.

What’s not to love about Thanksgiving?  Someone will most likely get in a fight, Dad will burn the Turkey, your little brother will be in tears across the table from you, your aunt will get wasted and try to talk to you about her glory days in the frat houses, and last but not least, Grandma keeps asking if you plan on losing weight because, “that’s why you don’t have a boyfriend.”  With all this going on, who feels the need to have Christmas music blaring in the background?

Christmas music in November should be illegal; simply because there’s already so much to look forward to.  If you disagree; just be sad and eat your mashed potatoes, Carol.
