Growing up with cameras constantly around and on has its perks. Born in 2000, I literally have pictures and videos of myself growing up from at least every month I’ve been alive. . . which is both a blessing and a curse. However, because of this constant capturing of our self and our lives, we are able to look back on how much we have grown, changed, and learned–essentially how we’ve glowed up. KnowYourMeme.com defines a “glow up” as “an internet slang term for gaining confidence, appearance, and style from one time period to another and is frequently used in the context of puberty.” This Twitter trend took over the world back in March 2018, and left us all looking back to our glorious and awkward years in middle and high school. Thanks to near constant documentation, we get to see the process of redefining ourselves as a badass and a real person.
Here at Her Campus Utah we are confident women who are proud of our involvement in our community, writing, and knowledge, but we’re also really proud of our “glow ups.” Get ready to have your mind blown, and probably impulse-buy a ticket to Salt Lake City after you fall in love with some gals on our Chapter Team.

Does Utah have something in the air? Is everyone a hottie here? At Her Campus, definitely. But we must not forget what really caused these transformations! Glowing up is centered around confidence, and growing into your own skin gracefully and patiently. The true glow up is when you are able to appreciate other people’s beauty while being comfortable and secure with your own, when you discover a style that exudes your personality. When you find your interests, tastes, talents, pet peeves, and everything that makes you YOU! It’s growing up… minus the adultish stuff like taxes and Lysol wipes. Maybe it’s just a Utah thing, but I’d say we are pretty darn good at glowing the eff up.
