We are trying our best

When it’s super busy, we are very overwhelmed. I can assure you that we have already got yelled at a couple of times. Please be patient with us.

we hate doordash

First off, the sound that the computer makes when a new order comes in is very annoying and gives workers anxiety. Second, it’s hard to get to the online orders when there are frustrated customers watching you.

we don’t get paid enough to know everything

When you ask questions like “why is it so expensive?” or “why are your hours like this?” We don’t know the answers to questions like this either, for the most part. We get paid to clock in, serve food, and clock out.

Tips are a lot of the money we make

I never knew this before working in the food industry, but a lot of people get paid below minimum wage because their tips make up for the rest. What most people get as their base pay is called “waitress pay,” which is somewhere around $6.50 (this varies based on place you work at), and then your tips make up the rest of your pay check. A small tip really can go a long way.

it is reasurring when you tell us “no rush”

It is super nice when a customer is understanding of how stressful the job is. When a customer genuinely tells me that there is no rush or not to worry, it lifts a big weight off my shoulder.
