During the Sundance Film Festival, celebrities from all around leave their warm homes to endure the chilly Utah weather and watch some amazing films. Like me, many of you are stuck home working or going to classes, but that does not mean we do not get to enjoy all Sundance has to offer. Yes, we may have to wait for the movies, but we do get to experience all the unique looks a winter festival has to offer from the comfort of our warm homes. Here are some of the major fashion trends we have seen come out of Sundance 2019 so far.

Neutrals

Whether it is the weather or the mood of numerous films this season, neutrals are a big hit. The atmosphere of Sundance is unlike most festivals, giving people and especially celebrities the chance to dress more casually, which often leads to more earthy tones. There are a few pops of color here and there, but most of them are in a more autumnal color scheme or pastel.

Fur

Fur is a winter classic so it is no surprise people are donning their favorite fur apparel for Sundance. Fur also has the perk of being warm and is great for when the sun sets in on cold nights.

Leather

Leather is another popular choice this festival. Possibly due to the fact that wearing any kind of leather automatically makes you look like a bad A. Even some of our Her Campus girls who attended Sundance wore leather.

Natural Makeup

Unlike other festivals, the Sundance Film Festival sets a tone of relaxation perfect for a nude or natural makeup look.

Facial Hair

Several men have stuck to their no shave November looks and have kept their facial hair. Some of which people love, and other people are having mixed emotions. One notable celebrity is Zac Efron who stars in the Sundance Film “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.”

Honorable mention:  A pair of earrings worn by Shannon Kring producer and writer for “End of the Line: The Women of Standing Rock.”

Raw Hem Pants

I have seen raw hemmed jeans here and there throughout my 19 years of life, but mainly only in shorts, so it is interesting to see several people rocking this style. It will be interesting to see if this trend carries into other aspects of fashion.

Brimmed Hats

One fashion trend I was not expecting was brimmed hats, but people are killing it in this look. Plus it makes perfect sense with the snow cover mountains and bright sun the larger brim helps shade your eyes.

Sundance is a great time to explore a comfier side of fashion, and no matter what you choose to the rest of the 2019 Sundance Film Fest, as long as you feel confident, you will look fantastic. Have fun getting dressed, collegiettes!
