5 DIYs to Pumpkin Spice Up Your Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been anxiously waiting for fall to arrive since the end of August. You’ve been looking at cute decoration ideas on Pinterest and have been dreaming of ways to pumpkin spice up your room. And now fall is here! If you can’t afford to buy all those cute fall decorations that you keep seeing at Target and Michaels, here are five ideas that you can DIY!

Leaf Wall Hanging

This one is so simple and turns out looking amazing! All you need is a wooden stick (either one you find outside or a wooden dowel), some fake leaves, and some fishing wire. Tie the leaves about six inches apart on the fishing wire. Then tie the fishing wire to your wooden stick. And voila! A simple wall hanging that looks great paired with some twinkling lights.

Metallic Pumpkin Bowl

This is another super easy one that won’t take much time to make. What you’ll need is one of those Jack o’ lantern trick or treat baskets we all had as kids, and some metallic spray paint. Just spray paint that puppy and you’re finished. Fill it with whatever you want – from fake flowers to candy! And once it gets closer to Halloween, you can face the jack o’ lantern side out for a cute Halloween decoration.

Chic Decorative Pumpkin

For this cute DIY all you need is a fake pumpkin and some paint or glitter. Put a cute fall saying on your pumpkin using the paint or glitter and you’re finished! A chic decorative pumpkin to add a little something fall to your dresser.

Leaf Mason Jars

This DIY is a little bit more difficult, but totally worth it. Take a mason jar, some fake leaves, and Mod Podge to make a cute candle holder for tea candles. Mod Podge the leaves to the outside of the jar until it is fully covered. Then tie either a ribbon or some twine around the lip and you’re done!

Rustic Chalk Memo Board

This is one of those DIYs that you can use pretty much any time of the year. Buy a slab of wood from Michaels or Target, chalkboard paint, and some chalk. Paint the center of the slab with the chalkboard paint. Once it dries, use the chalk to write whatever cute fall saying you choose. Then when winter comes around, you can change the saying to fit the season.
