Fall is my favorite season of all, not only because here in Utah we get to experience autumn at its finest with all the color-changing leaves, but because it’s Halloween time! For me personally, I love all of the fun, scary events that take place during the fall, which is why I wanted to make a list of a few of my favorite things to keep you satisfied–and scared–all October long. If you are looking for some spooky fun this October, here are a few recommendations for you.
First off, something I always recommend to everyone is haunted houses. There are a few great options for haunted houses here in the Salt Lake area, and you really cannot go wrong with any of them! I have been going to three main different haunted houses here in SLC since I was 13 years old, and still continue to go every year because they just never get old. The main three haunted houses I’ve attended are Nightmare on 13th, Fear Factory, and Castle of Chaos. Each haunted house has their own different features making them all unique every year, so like I said before, you really can’t go wrong with whichever haunt you decide on. This year, so far, I have only been to one haunted house and it was Nightmare on 13th. This haunted house in particular has been officially named one of the top 5 scariest haunted attractions in America, and rated one of the top 13 haunted houses in the world. If you think you can handle it, I highly recommend Nightmare on 13th to anyone looking for a good scare!

If you’re not into having people pop out at you and be up in your personal space, another super fun event that takes place every October is Odyssey dance’s production of Thriller. This is an awesome alternative for haunted houses if you still want to be a bit scared, but would like to be entertained most of all. I have been to the production of Thriller in the past, and it’s been amazing every time! This year the production will be taking place October 5th through October 30th. If you love Halloween and all the classic horror characters that come along with it, Thriller will certainly be a real thrill for you.

Last but not least, Frightmares. If you’ve never heard of Frightmares, it takes place at Lagoon, a popular amusement park located in Farmington which is about 18 miles north of SLC. Frightmares is fun for people of all ages and includes more than nine different haunted attractions. The park is purely “Halloween-themed entertainment,” that goes along with all the rides and games which makes for an even more fun amusement park experience! Frightmares has some attractions that are less scary, and some that are much more intense so it’s a really great option for people who love being scared, and also for those who aren’t very fond of being scared.

These are just a few of my favorite scary yet fun-filled activities that I enjoy during the month of October — there are tons of other super great events taking place in SLC this Halloween.
