15 Times Taylor Swift Changed Lives During Her 1989 World Tour

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Taylor Swift changed many lives Friday night at her sold out show in Salt Lake City. People can’t stop talking about her 1989 World Tour and now we know why. She made us laugh, she made us cry, she gave us hope, and inspired us more than we ever anticipated.

1. You are one of the select few. The luckiest, most excited people in the world. You’ve been waiting for this night for months and it is finally here. You will be seeing the one and only Taylor Swift on her biggest and best tour yet.

2. You’ve finally picked out the perfect outfit and made your way through the gates. Taking it all in because THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING.

3. Then you make your way to your seat and you find the best thing since that Tamagotchi you got 2nd grade, the light-up bracelet that mysteriously synchronizes with the music.  THIS IS NOT REAL!

4. As you wait anxiously with excitement for Taylor to take the stage you try and figure out if this is really happening or if it’s just another dream, but good news. It is actually happening.

5. Shawn Mendez and Vance Joy fill the stadium and it just keeps getting better and better because with each song you are that much closer to seeing Taylor.

6. Then in a split second 15,000 people literally go insane. Your light up bracelet starts lighting up, Taylor Swift is on stage looking absolutely perfect in a sequin bomber jacket singing Welcome to New York and you have never felt so alive.

7. She plays New Romantics and Blank Space and you can already tell that you won’t be able to speak the next day.

8.  After three amazing tracks off of her 1989 album Taylor throws is back to her Red album and plays, I Knew You Were Trouble. You are reminded once again that this song will never get old. 3 minutes of head banging later and you are once again convinced that this is the best day of your life.

9.  How To Get The Girl happens and Taylor looks adorable in a pink crop top and skirt combo. You think this is the most wonderful outfit on the night and then: plot twist. The skirt lights up and synchronizes with that magical bracelet. You are one with Taylor.

10. Then you watch Taylor get strapped in to part of her set and you know something epic is about to happen. She sings an acoustic version of You Belong With Me while her set begins to move and she soars of the crowd. This is magic.

11. With every song that Taylor Swift plays you know that there is no way that it can get any better than this. WRONG. Taylor plays a rock version of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and you feel so empowered that you need to find someone to break up with ASAP.

12. Nothing makes you feel better than Taylor reminding the crowd how special we all are. Having Taylor tell you, you are enough is the best feeling in the world. Then we hear something every collegiette can relate to, “Just because you haven’t reached your final destination, doesn’t mean you’re not going somewhere.” This is why we love Taylor Swift. Everything she says is so relatable and we just want to be her BFF.

13. Taylor ends the night with not one, but two confetti filled songs. The confetti during Out of the Woods is shaped like little paper airplanes because why not?

14. Not only does the stadium fill with confetti during Shake It Off, but there are some casual indoor fireworks as well.

15. Its time to leave the stadium, you are so happy and you know that life will never be the same all thanks to our girl, T – Swift.

Being there in person was an experience unlike any other, and I hope my wedding brings me half of the joy Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour brought me. Taylor can’t come back to Salt Lake City soon enough. Until next time, T!

Taylor Swift isn't a major so I guess Human Development and Family Studies will have to do. All I want in life is for T - Swift to know that we are BFF's, a closet full of Kate Spade, and an endless supply of Chick-Fil-A. Until I find a magic genie to grant my three wishes I'll stick with working for a non-profit, doing a ridiclious amount of online shopping, and being obsessed with my sorority.
