The 12 Memes You’ll Live in College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

We get it. College. The highs are also the lows in a weird way, up is down, down is up. There are moments when you get to an exam and ask yourself, “am I even in this class?” We have the 12 memes that will make you say, “same.”

1.  “Required Textbooks.”

Remember when your professor stressed that the $300 textbook was absolutely necessary to pass the class?  Lies.  Just a bunch of expensive lies.

2.  The Syllabus.

Ah, the syllabus.  Your life is now made up of syllabi, it contains all the information you need.  And if you forget, the professor will be happy to direct all questions back to it.

3.  Due Date Motivation.

Nothing motivates a college student like a looming deadline.  Except maybe food.

4.  Adulting.

What does pizza, beans, tuna and ramen all have in common?  They are now our new favorite (and the cheapest) type of food.  Plus sometimes, when we’re lucky, we’ll find quarters to do some laundry.

5.  That “mom-safe” side of our life.

It’s not denial, it’s just “mom-proofing”.  Honestly, it’s for her benefit.

6.  Your territory.

*Walks into class and sees someone in your seat*  (awkward silence) *glares at person as you sit down on the opposite side of the classroom*

7.  Setting time aside to get yourself ready to do homework.

Don’t confuse the time before you do homework as actual homework time.  Getting motivated is hard.

8.  Setting goals.

Sometimes it’s the thought that counts.

9.  The Dating Scene.

Beware of fire in the form of dates.  Especially blind dates, those are the most flammable.

10.  Testing Brain.

YOU HAD ONE JOB BRAIN!  ONE FREAKING JOB!

11.  Tuition.

If you haven’t seriously considered becoming a stripper or selling a kidney to pay for college than you are more stable than I.

12.  And finally, enduring to the end of the semester.

Just so you can do it all again next semester.

I enjoy writing about varied topics, which is fueled from my love of talking to people.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, my goldfish Buttercup, reading, painting, anything competitive, Star Wars and gaming.
