There should be an Angela Moneck at Every Avenue

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFSP chapter.

This week brought horrendous weather, the season finale of Showtime’s Shameless and a new USFSP Campus Celebrity: Angela Moneck.

1. So, I hear you are a fan of magazines. Which ones? And why?
My favorites are Glamour and SELF. I’ve been obsessed with them since I can remember. I used to buy every single magazine at the checkout counters at Walgreens, but that got too expensive. Now, I subscribe to about three: Glamour, SELF, and Cosmopolitan. I mostly look at them for design inspiration, since I eventually want to work for one.

2. Why are you a journalism student?
I don’t really consider myself a journalism student since I don’t really like writing (although I am good at it). I like to consider myself a mass communications student. I realized my sophomore year of high school that I had a passion for working on the yearbook — taking photos, editing, designing, etc… The closest thing I can think of to that would be working on a magazine. I’m glad that the mass comm. major requires learning everything — from social media to writing articles — because with the media transforming, I’m sure I am going to use all of those skills in whatever job I get.

3. What bands are you into?
My favorite band of all time is Linkin Park. I’ve loved them since “One Step Closer.” I actually got to meet them in January, which was the most surreal, amazing experience of my life. I’ve recently become obsessed with Every Avenue after I saw them at the Fearless Friends Tour in Orlando. I pretty much fell in love with them at that concert because they are amazing live. I also love Cartel. I met Will, the lead singer, last summer. Both of the LP and Cartel signed shirts are hanging up in my room, along with the picture of me and the band members.

4. Any sweet concerts you’ve seen?
I think the best concert of my life was the Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns tour that I went to in January. My friends and I had pit tickets. Not only was meeting them absolutely freaking amazing, but so was the concert. I love going to concerts that have several bands, that way, I learn about new bands I may have never listened to before. I’m hoping to go to Warped Tour this summer for the first time to see Every Avenue.

5. What’s one thing you like about USF?
I love my school — especially the St. Pete campus. It’s a nice, peaceful campus right next to the water. I pretty much like everything about the school, but I think I like going to the football games the most. As far as the mass comm. department, I love all the teachers because they really seem to care about their students. They all have gone above and beyond to help me.

6. Anything you dislike?
I strongly dislike the parking garage at school. I was hit in the parking garage about a year ago, by a girl who didn’t even go to the school; hence, she shouldn’t have been parking in the garage. That garage is crazy; people drive like they’re NASCAR racers. Something needs to be done about the garage, but I’m graduating in a month so unfortunately, I won’t be able to see if anything changes.

7. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Oh gosh. I have like no spare time right now, haha. I like going out or hanging with friends as much as possible. I try to travel as much as I can.

Just for funsies:
Favorite ice cream flavor: Cookies and Cream
Age: 22
Favorite quotes: “Everything happens for a reason.”/ “She can’t fall for you if you aren’t there to catch her” / “Life isn’t about finding yourself; it’s about creating yourself.” / “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Current CD/song you can’t get enough of? Pretty much both Every Avenue CDs, but I put “Mindset” on repeat.
