Listen up ladies. I’m here to give you the run down on the NHL to prepare you for the 2013 season. It’s no surprise to see the boys of USFSP pull out memorabilia from their favorite team this time of year. If you’ve had your eye on that cutie in Chem Lab always wearing the Blackhawks hat and haven’t known what to say, the NHL season kickoff last week is the perfect icebreaker. Now I understand many women think hockey is nothing but toothless middle-aged men skating around with giant sticks, but I am here to set the record straight with the never ending eye candy. After hours of tedious research (that I thoroughly enjoyed) I believe I have found the top 10 hottest players of the NHL.
10. Mike McKenna-Columbus Blue Jackets
When you combine dark hair, dark eyes and a penchant for wearing black you get the bad boy allure every girl is a sucker for. McKenna, born in St. Louis, MO is currently a goalie for the Columbus Blue Jackets. This 30-year-old looks like 6’ 2” of rockstar status but he becomes a total heart breaker with the love he has for his dog. Who doesn’t love a man who loves his pooch?
9. Wayne Simmonds-Philadelphia Flyers
Have you been searching for Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome? Stop looking. I’ve found him. This 6’ 2” Right Wing for the Philadelphia Flyers has been turning heads for I’m sure what has been most of his 25 years. A native of Scarsborough, ON, this handsome man makes a vacation to Canada seem mighty appealing.
8. Ryan Malone-Tampa Bay Lightning
Any list that doesn’t include Ryan “Bugsy” Malone isn’t worth reading. I’m a complete sucker for tattoos and Irish guys. Give me a tattooed Irish guy and my ovaries explode. At 33, this 6’ 4” Bugsy has never looked better. Living in Tampa Bay as one of the Lightning’s top left wings makes it even better. The best part of living in a hockey market is you may actually see them in person and not just lusting over a photo.
7. Brad Richardson-Vancouver Canucks
You know how at the end of Your love is my drug Ke$ha awkwardly says, “I like your beard?” I think she was talking about Brad Richardson. 28 years old and can grow facial hair like a champion; this 6’ Vancouver Canucks right wing is a Stanley Cup winner with the LA Kings and with a smile like that know you would have a good night on his arm.
6. Josh Bailey-New York Islanders
My oh my Josh Bailey where have you been my entire life? Bailey’s 24th birthday was this week. Anyone else up for a quick trip to New York to personally wish him a happy birthday? Better yet, how about we head to Bowmanville, ON to thank his parents for bringing him into the world for all of us to enjoy. This 6’ 1” left wing of the New York Islanders should insure his face they way Mariah Carey is rumored to have insured her legs.
5. Tyler Seguin-Dallas Stars
Tyler Seguin is that bad boy fantasy every girl has dreamt about. The 6’ 1” center has mastered the smirk at 21 that Edward Cullen took 100 years to claim. One look at the Brampton, ON man and I get why Taylor Swift wrote I Knew You Were Trouble.
4. Darren Helm-Detroit Red Wings
The ladies of Detroit should thank their lucky stars they walk the same streets as Darren Helm. 5’ 11” and 26 years old, Helm has the face I’d expect to see on One Tree Hill, not the NHL. Unfortunately has been placed on long term injured reserve due to back pain and a lacerated forearm but is expected to play this season. Maybe in his off time he pose for Abercrombie ads or the covers of romance novels.
3. Andrew Ference-Edmonton Oilers
If you will excuse me, I need to pack my belongings. I’m moving to Edmonton if boys like this live there. Do people still look that good at 34? Well apparently Andrew Ference does. Recently named captain of the Oilers, Ference exudes dominance and confidence, an undeniably sexy combination (see Christian Grey),
2. Steven Stamkos-Tampa Bay Lightning
Any one that knows me will tell you I have a borderline unhealthy attraction to Steven Stamkos so I don’t list him as number two easily. The Lightning star with those forearms, heart warming blue eyes and boyish grin create a combination that no woman can deny. OK I couldn’t and wouldn’t deny so I trust no other woman would either. Knowing this 6’ 1” 23-year-old man lives in Tampa makes the August heat a little more bearable.
1. Loui Erikkson-Boston Bruins
I think my heart stopped when I looked at Loui Erikkson the first time. He has the bone structure legends are made of! Recently becoming a right wing for the Boston Bruins, Erikkson really did tip the hot scales for Beantown. It does make me wonder though…are Erikkson and Matt Damon in some sort of Boston secret society where they get together and do overly handsome man things? I certainly hope so!
