Sierra Gruca ’18

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFCA chapter.

Name: Sierra Gruca

Year: Sophomore

Major: Psychology

Hometown: Los Angeles

Relationship Status: “Dating someone? Yeah I guess you can say I’m dating someone”

Her Campus would like to disclose that this interview was conducted on a walk to Starbucks. Sierra is very studious and a caffeine fuel break was very much needed so she could continue to power through her school work. The interviewer and interviewee are friends and met up and walked down to Starbucks while the interview was being conducted. The interview was finished while drinking our Starbucks. (Salted Caramel Mocha for Her Campus and White Chocolate Mocha with cinnamon for Sierra.)

What was your first kiss like?

It was in fifth grade, I didn’t know what I was doing. I’m pretty sure I didn’t kiss him back. I had been friends with this guy since kindergarten and we had both really liked each other for a really long time. We would do fashion shows together for our school and we had a meeting at his house and I don’t know it just kinda happened!!

What’s the cutest text you’ve ever received?

I have to pick one? I don’t know I like random text messages when we haven’t spoken for a while. Like throughout the day when someone texts me “Thinking about you”. I like people telling me how I’ve impacted their lives or how I’ve been a blessing to them. It makes me feel good about myself, and I like seeing people happy.

If you were to serenade a significant other with a romantic song what song would you choose?

Can I think about that one?? That’s hard, I need to really think about that.

Do you listen to emotional break-up songs when you’re sad or heartbroken?

No, that’s so sad! I like to listen to sad songs in general, not because I’m a sad person, I’m actually a really happy person, but they’re just so emotional and good. I don’t like to listen to sad music when I’m heartbroken. I don’t want to do that to myself!

When looking for a significant other what do you look for?

I’ve always said I don’t have a type. If you are a good person and you have a good heart and your personality catches my attention then that’s all I really look for. It’s about the person.

Okay, so you don’t look for specific physical attributes?

No. Well actually their smile! Their smile has to capture my attention.

*At this time we entered the Starbucks and ordered our drinks. Once our drinks were ready we sat down. Sierra had been thinking about the serenade question and told me she had once serenaded someone.*

So you have actually serenaded someone? What did you sing?

Yes! I sang Con Los Años Que Me Quedan by Gloria Estefan. It was in the car. I had just gotten picked up from the airport and we were going to visit family and that song came on in the car. I just decided to serenade them in the car ride! It wasn’t planned. The words to that song are really deep, and if you’ve heard it before you’d known what I’m talking about.

*Her Campus listened to this song and it is very romantic and sentimental*

What is the best relationship advice you can give?

I would say to love the other person unconditionally, be supportive, learn to agree to disagree because not every argument is worth going through. Pick your battles, you know? Make them happy, put a smile on their face. Be honest!! That’s a big one. Honesty and respect.

Are you all about grand, romantic gestures or small, little gestures?

Small things. I’m very simple.

I saved the most important question for last: who are your celebrity crushes?

Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Ealy

College sophomore that is obsessed with comedians and television. I live in San Francisco and I'm that annoying person at Disneyland that will give random park and movie facts no one really wants to know.
