Why did you choose USF?

I chose USF because I loved the school! The school matched the academic standards I was looking for and it was located in the middle of San Francisco. I am very much a city girl and even though I applied to other schools I can’t imagine going to a school that’s not in a city.

What’s your favorite thing about USF?

I have really enjoyed the social justice ideals that this school holds. The school is very forward in it’s ideas and it’s something that I feel strongly about. I’ve also learned a lot about diversity and life and San Francisco.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years hopefully I’ll be working in the TV industry. I know it will be hard and I don’t mind working from the bottom, but I want to be working on a TV show, I don’t know doing what yet, but a dream of mine would be pursuing writing. Or just being some kind of boss, like a producer or something.

What are your hobbies?

I love comedy! My hobby would be watching improv shows or stand up or really good comedy TV. I love reading, and I’m always reading something, whether it’s some online article or story, or my favorite celebrity’s memoir.

Who is your favorite “real” celebrity and why?

I LOVE Mindy Kaling. I think she’s amazing and hilarious. One of my many dreams is to become a comedy writer and Mindy is an amazing comedy writer. She wrote for The Office and created and stars in The Mindy Project. She is a talented writer and actress, and she is extremely confident in herself. It’s inspiring for me to see Mindy, a woman of color, writing and starring in her own TV show.

What are your plans for this summer?

This summer I’ll be interning for a friend of mine who just graduated college and is trying to start up his own theatre company. My family is also moving to Texas so I’ll be spending some time there.

When you were in highschool…

When I was in high school I was involved in choir. Every day we had class and we would have to warm up our voices at the beginning of class. By senior year I was getting tired of the same thing everyday, so my best friend and I would hide behind the risers during warm ups and eat or talk or just about do anything besides sing the warm ups. One day this girl in choir who was super uptight about the rules wanted to ruin our day. She told our teacher that she thought there were people hiding behind the risers during warm ups. Naturally I heard her tell our teacher before class so when our teacher rounded the corner to try to catch whoever was hiding behind the risers, we sneaked back to our seats. Then when she went back to her desk we sneaked back behind the risers and stayed there the entire class just to spite the girl that tried to rat us out. Our teacher never caught us.

If you were to become famous, what would be your favorite and least favorite part of being in the public eye?

My favorite thing about being in the public eye would be getting attention. I love attention and I think it would be fun to have people who want to know who I’m dating and what I’m wearing and where I’m going. However, my least favorite thing would be that my mistakes would be very public and visible. I am not perfect and I have said some things that I probably shouldn’t have in the past, and if I were famous I do not get to just ignore and move on. Everyone will know any mistake I’ve done and that would be stressful.

Is the best version of herself while sipping coffee in Alamo Square Park, rereading Mindy Kaling's books.
