Apple Extravaganza: the iPhone 7

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFCA chapter.

If you’ve tuned into the news lately, you’ve probably heard about the brand new iPhone 7 – the iPhone Apple claims is the fastest, most advanced iteration ever! The iPhone 7 debuted on September 16th worldwide, kicking off the usually frenzy and mania that surrounds a new launch, while Apple struggled to meet the overwhelming demand of consumers. If you’re still reeling from the loss of the headphone jack – gasp! – or are on the fence about whether to upgrade, check out some of the cool new features that the 7 comes with:

  1. It’s efficient. The new iPhone boasts a longer, more reliable battery life.
  2. It’s sleek. You can pick up the phone in the all new jet black color( different from the regular black) , or stick with the classic gold, rose gold, or silver.
  3. It’s water-resistant. Sure, it’s not waterproof like some other Android models like the Samsung Galaxy S7 or the Sony Xperia Z5, but Apple now offers the newest model featuring an Ingress Protection (a standard model used to measure the sealing of electrical enclosures from moisture and other materials) of IP 67. This means your phone should survive if you fall victim to the dreaded toilet drop, but don’t take it for a swim!
  4. Fancy photos! The 7 includes a 12-megapixel shooter, featuring two cameras capable of optical zoom and new Portrait mode for the pros.
  5. The headphone jack is no more! Although this news was initially met with intense backlash, don’t panic. You can still use the Lightning port for audio,, which still is used for data transferring and charging your phone. Otherwise, you’ll have to pick up a pair of bluetooth headphones.

If you want to get your hands on the new iPhone, you’ll have to get in line! If you’re in the market for a new phone but aren’t sold on the 7, it’s a great time to buy the 6 or the 6s, which still has plenty of neat features at a lower price point.
