4 Ways to Decorate your Dorm Room for Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFCA chapter.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and being away from home during the holidays can be a little lonely. Everyone knows the dorms aren’t the greatest place to live, but really, it’s what you make of it. It’s time to get festive and start feeling cozy, especially during the holidays! Here are a few creative and easy ways to get your dorm ready for Thanksgiving.

Decorate Your Dorm Room
For starters, decorate your dorm room with autumn colors! Use colors like yellow, red, orange, and green to bring out that Thanksgiving vibe. Get creative and cut out autumn colored leaves and pumpkins to put around your room. You can dangle them across your dorm with string, or simply stick them on the walls. Don’t forget about those hand-traced turkeys you made in elementary school! It’s super fun and brings you back to those warm childhood memories! You can display your cute little turkeys around your door to show off your festive spirit.

Another addition in preparing for the holiday is to buy those adorable tiny pumpkins to place them around your room.  You can get them at a local grocery store, or even at a pumpkin patch! They’re cheap and will definitely accent your dorm room perfectly for the season.

Finish your room off with fall-scented candles to give that special touch! My personal favorite scent is the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candle, which can be purchased from Bath and Body Works along with other Fall scented candles for $5.00 limited time only! If you are on a budget, make sure to be aware of any upcoming holiday sales. This is one of the best ways to create that Thanksgiving ambiance.

Don’t forget to put up some photos of your family and friends! Surrounding yourself with fond memories of your loved ones will help you better create a home away from home for the holiday.
Its that time of the year to be thankful and spend with the ones your love.  Decorate your dorm room with your roommates! These quick easy tips will not only bring some bonding time with your roommates, but will give you that homey holiday feel for this upcoming Thanksgiving!

Coming across Her Campus as a senior in high school and then leading her very own branch, Emily proudly calls herself the co-president and editor-in-chief of Her Campus University of San Francisco. While Emily has a guilty addiction to shopping, celebrities, and all things "girly" she hopes that she can integrate this into a relatable magazine to the women of her campus. Emily has a slight infatuation for John Krasinski and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. When she's not day dreaming about her future husbands, Emily is participating in many extra curricular activities such as her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. Emily enjoys good company, good FOOD, and a good ole' television. One of the most recent television series Emily has become a fan of is ABC's Pan Am. If only Pan Am continued to exist, Emily would have seriously considered becoming a stewardess. The success of the branch has yet to blossom. Emily hopes that she can bring Her Campus University of San Francisco to its full potential. In the future, Emily plans studying abroad all over the European continent and pursue her passion of social justice through fashion.
