1. It’s Shorter: Even if it’s only shorter by about a month, that’s a huge difference to the poor souls who have 8 a.m classes or mandatory SMART Lab hours. Spring Semester signifies the home stretch towards the beautiful and missed summer break.
2. It has Spring Break: SPRANG BREAK FOREVA amirite? Spring semester brings with it the promise of a probably sloppy and hard to remember trip to Panama City Beach or the Keys, but that’s what college is all about! Whether you decide to travel to Europe, NYC, Cancun or stay right at home, we all appreciate a much needed break from horrible food and poorly timed Canvas assignments.
3. The Weather is Better: Don’t get me wrong, nobody loves weather so scorching hot that your face melts off and your hair turns into a furball quite like a Floridian. The Spring weather brings a cool breeze and some rain, along with some very pretty scenery. Plus, if you walk outside in February, you won’t feel the wrath of a thousand burning suns hitting you like a bus. Prime time for straightening your hair!
4. You’re more settled in: If this is your freshman year, then Spring semester means you have survived college (so far). Even if this isn’t your first go round, the Spring semester is much more relaxed than Fall. You have your schedule settled in, you know all the best spots around campus for studying, coffee breaks, and scoping out future husbands (the medical buildings). You have conquered the challenge of Tuesday night all-you-can-drinks and Wednesday morning classes. Go you.
5. Tis’ the season for formals and festivals: For Greek students, Spring semester means formal season. Basically formals are college proms, but without teacher chaperones and you go to way more fun places, like NOLA for example. Festival season is also upon us, including Ultra Music Festival in Miami and Coachella Music Festival in California. Some people wait all year for these multi-day events, and every genre is celebrated, including EDM, Country, Indie, etc. Needless to say, there are more exciting weekends in Spring semester than in Fall.
