At the beginning of this year, I decided that I wanted to create a monthly playlist to track the new music I discover and how my taste changes throughout the year. I started in January with a playlist containing songs like “Bejewled” by Taylor Swift, “Impurities” by Le Sserafim, and “A House in Nebraska” by Ethel Cain. I felt that these songs reflect the vibes of January to me. I continued this routine all throughout the year.

The beginning of October means I started listening to my new playlist. Since this month essentially marks the coziness and coolness that fall brings, this playlist is more mellow compared to my August and September playlists. Perhaps, I like softer songs during a time of the year that is so busy!

These are just a few of the songs I’ve added onto my October playlist:

  • “Lacy” by Olivia Rodrigo
  • “Hey, Ma” by Bon Iver
  • “Feather” by Sabrina Carpenter
  • “Red Line” by 5 seconds of Summer
  • “Wendy” by Maisie Peters

I’ve noticed that my October playlist looks similar to my general fall playlist. I guess I can’t imagine getting through fall without the music of Bon Iver, girl in red, or NIKI!

Creating monthly playlists has become such a joy for me- as simple as it is! During busy times such as these, I’ve found that it’s important to find joy in the little things. Also, it will be interesting for me to look back at the music I’ve listened to throughout the year.

If you’d like some more fall music recommendations, NIKI’s, Nicole, Taylor Swift’s Evermore, Bon Iver’s Bon Iver, and RM’s Indigo are all albums that embody fall throughout the whole work.
