As an avid Spotify user, making and saving playlists is almost a hobby for me. I’ll create hyper-specified playlists that reflect a mood, artist, or a particular mood of an artist. Not only can  I create any kind of playlist I want, I can also browse a seemingly endless library of playlists made by other users! I love virtual music platforms!!

Beginning in January, I decided to create a new playlist every month to track new music I find and how my taste develops over the year. This has been one of my favorite routines that I’ve implemented into my life this year; I look forward to creating a new playlist at the beginning of  each month. After I’ve created the monthly playlist, I continue to add onto that playlist throughout the month as I continue to discover new music.

I just created my March 2023 playlist, and it’s already been on repeat this entire first week! Since March marks the beginning of spring, I tried to choose songs that resembled the feelings of warmer weather and sunshine! Though I try to match the music with the vibes of the month, I often end up with a bunch of songs that I really like at the moment, no matter what they sound like.

Here are just a few songs I’ve added to my March playlist:

  • Mess It Up by Gracie Abrams
  • Carousel by 5 seconds of Summer
  • Snow On The Beach (feat. Lana Del Rey) by Taylor Swift
  • Coffee by BTS
  • Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap
  • Sweet Boy by Sophia Viggiano, Hudson Ritchie
  • Forever Only by JAEHYUN

At the end of 2023, I’m excited to look back at all my playlists to see what songs I liked the most or to rediscover any ones that I forgot about. Creating monthly playlists has provided a simple joy that I didn’t know I needed!
