Inspiring Travel Quotes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Hello collegiettes™!

So, do you like to travel?! Some of us have been born into a life that involves a lot of traveling, while others have not yet been to places far away. Regardless of your past traveling experiences, the college years give you plenty of opportunities to travel more and see places you’ve only read about in books. With travel abroad opportunities and friends who may be willing to split gas money to go somewhere, I truly believe our college years are a great time to explore new places, whether in a different country or a city not too far away from our own campus.

I am always inspired by the experience of traveling, and I believe that anyone who sees traveling as more than just a vacation will learn amazing things while being in a new place. Although I have learned a lot in my college classrooms, I have also learned things that only traveling and being in a new place could have taught me. I am so thankful for those lessons.

Traveling allows us to see beyond our comfort zones and realize just how big the world is and how much there is to see and learn. But it also makes us realize just how similar people all over the world are and how we all experience the same emotions, even if they are expressed in different ways.

So to help you get inspired to pack a suitcase and travel somewhere, here are some of my all-time favorite quotes about traveling:

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. Saint Augustine

Wherever you go, go with all your heart. Confucius

To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries. Aldous Huxley

“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” – John A. Shedd

“Experience, travel – these are as education in themselves.” – Euripides

“To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” – Freya Stark

“Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.” – Maya Angelou

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” – Helen Keller

Happy traveling!
