A Guide to the Fall 2021 Mercury Retrograde

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

The third and final Mercury retrograde of the year begins on September 27th, 2021 until October 18th, 2021. For those of you who don’t know, Mercury retrograde is when the planet Mercury looks as though it is slower than usual and almost looks as if it’s going backward. Mercury rules technology so you may notice that your devices aren’t working as well or that they’ve been acting weird. Most importantly, Mercury has a big impact on communicating with others.

During this time, make sure you think things through before you go through with them. Watch how you’re speaking with others and ensure that things are not getting twisted. Mercury retrograde can feel overwhelming as your energy can feel reversed and it’s a good time to slow down just as the planet appears to be.

This Mercury retrograde is in Libra meaning that this retrograde has a lot to do with love. However, with most retrogrades, it usually can bring the past back into the present. This retrograde will especially emphasize past lovers coming back into your life. With this in mind, remember how important it is to communicate properly during Mercury retrograde. With this specific retrograde being in Libra, you must ensure that you know what you want before you make the decision quickly! And once you make a decision, be clear with what you want right from the beginning.

My best word of advice: If an ex comes back during this time, try not to make a decision until the day after October 18th.

And like all retrogrades, remember that this is the perfect time to manifest and meditate. Speak what you want into existence and it becomes more and more real. This is your time to shine, baby! Happy final retrograde!
