11 Apps URI Students Shouldn’t Have To Live Without

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

1. Poshmark

If you have any clothes in decent shape that you don’t plan on wearing again, there is a logical solution. Poshmark allows you to sell your clothes to other Poshmark users, not to mention it’s free shipping. Sell your clothes, shoes, wallets, bags, basically anything you are not going to use anymore! One girls trash is another girls treasure.

2. Uber

Don’t have a ride home from O-Mist on Tuesday night?  Uber is your go-to. It’s cheaper than taxis and will get you where you need to be when you need to be there.

3. Dunkin Donuts

Lucky for us, URI has 3 Dunkins on campus. Having the DD app saves you from having to carry your wallet around.  This app lets you load a Dunkin card which you can add any amount of money to.  Not to mention, this app is great because it offers monthly and weekly deals.  This month, you can score any size hot or iced espesso beverage for $1.99.  For every 200 points you get by using the app, you are eligable to get any size beverage for FREE! How can any coffee lover not want to download the DD app?!

4. Tab

No more having to ask for separate checks at Mews! By using tab, you can just snap a pic of your bill and it does all of the splitting/taxing/tipping for you. Technology is our friend.

5. VSCOcam

VSCO offers some really cute, different filters for your next #selfie or Rhode Island beach pic. You can save these photos to your camera roll, or post them to VSCO for your followers to see!

6. Venmo

Your BFF absolutely rocks for spotting you for a Razzbull the other day, but you want to pay her back ASAP. Venmo allows you to enter your credit card info and send money to people. It’s a quick and easy way to pay people back if you don’t have cash!

7. Drunk Mode

Good news – that regret of checking your text messages the morning after a night at Bon Vue will be gone after downloading Drunk Mode! This app allows you to block certain contacts for a certain amount of time so you’re unable to text them while going out for a night of drinking. If your friends also have the app, you can track eachother to see where you guys are. Let’s be real, we’ve all gotten lost before!

8. Nike+ Training Club

Getting yourself to the gym once the Rhody weather gets cold or rainy is a struggle. Nike Training Club offers 100 different workouts and video instructions for you to without having to leave the comfort of your own room. The app also allows you to commit to programs that help you reach your fitness goals. See ya later freshman (or whichever year you are) 15!

9. GroupMe

GroupMe allows you to make group chats with as many people as you’d like, which is not always the case on regular iPhone groups. It also allows you to turn your notifications on and off, so when you’re studying for that big exam tomorrow your phone won’t be distracting you with tons of texts!

10. Dubsmash

Hands down, the best technological cure for boredom. I’m sure we’ve all seen these hysterical voice-over videos, and now you can make your own!

11. URI Dining Services

The Dining Services app has many benefits. First of all, it provides menus for each dining hall, AKA the most effortless way to see if Butt Nuggets are available. The app also has webcams that gives you a view inside each dining hall to see if it’s busy or not. It also allows you to add funds to your RAM Account.  The shuttle tracker lets you see where the shuttle is on campus so you are not waiting at the stop not knowing when the shuttle will come.  It’s safe to say every URI student needs this app!
