Nature Lover, Dancer and Earth’s Next Top Model

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPRM chapter.

0in;line-height:20.2pt;background:#FFF4F4″>You can’t help but to be captivated by the hopefulness and love towards life from this 20-year-old amazing being and his gorgeous, as Tyra Banks would call it, smize. Kariel, a Computer Engineering junior has many façades and talents which he graciously achieves. Being a member, and president, of UNICEF at Colegio has made him able understand all the hardships children have around the world and that not everybody has an easy life. There is no doubt this charismatic soul wouldn’t think twice about making a difference in the world.

A Canóvanas native, Kariel has been searching for the ideal college life with a beautiful campus where memories are made. This is why he chose to study at our splendid Mayaguez Campus; to make friends whom he can count on and spend fun moments that later turn into outstanding reminiscences of the best years of one’s life. He wants to do an internship in the near future in which he can perform his engineering, leadership, and teamwork skills.

While he studies his bachelors in engineering, Kariel also has a passion for art. Growing up, he started to enjoy the art of dancing; participating in dance crews. When he first came to Mayaguez, he joined the dance company Western Ballet Theatre where he took dance roles on The Nutcracker, Dracula, and a special Tango choreography by our amazing and unforgettable teacher, Mumy Badrena. Kariel is also a dancer for Colegio’s Dance Team, but it was in the dance company where I met this amazing person and had the opportunity to dance with him. I’m so happy I met him; anyone would be, he is, indeed, a wonderful human being who brings joy to those around him.

A self-proclaimed “Little Monster,” he’s admired Lady Gaga, not just because she’s a triple threat but, because she’s also a sponsor for UNICEF, the organization that inspires him to make a huge difference in the world. Kariel continues to live life at its fullest, appreciating every single little thing, and hoping to witness all the wonders the world has to offer,“all those picture perfect places como la cima del Yunque.

Author of "Partida en Dos," a self-published poetry book, and also published writer featured in magazines such as Sábanas, El Vicio del Tintero, Emily, and the Anthology of the Revolutionary Alliance. Bachelor student of English Literature and minors in Comparative Literature and Teacher Preparation. Born and raised in the West of Puerto Rico, artist, dancer, tree-hugger and animal rights activist.
