Like so many literature majors, venturing in the world of books is my favorite hobby. It sort of brings a balance in my life, between college, work and my alternative reading…it’s sort of like taking a breath of fresh air. My problem lies in which book to read first! I mean, so many options and so limited time. So, when I first heard of the author John Green, it seemed like his stories would definitely be on my “reading list.”
Finally, while on Christmas break, I acquired Looking for Alaska, and OH MY GOSH!!! I could not put it down; not only because it searches for the meaning behind existential dilemmas, but because it also portrays the struggle everyone has inside themselves every single day. Phrases like: “How will I ever get out of this labyrinth!,” are just one of the many questions the reader can and will ponder while reading the book.
However, there are still mixed feelings about this book. Many find it’s too centered around teenage drama while others have experienced it in a more profound way.

For me, it was one hell of a ride. It made me cry, laugh, and see the beauty in ephemeral things. Now, I’m not one for spoilers, but all I can say is that it is a funny and touching story about the search for “the Great Perhaps.” If you want to know more, then I’m afraid you will have to find that out for yourself….
Trust me, you wont regret reading this book.
