There are a lot of bands out there and most of them have a small following. Sometimes those bands just need a little exposure so people can find out about their existence. Here are five bands to listen to when you want to listen to something new and different.

1. The Maine

Most Popular Song: “Bad Behavior”

Formed in Tempe, Arizona in 2007. The Maine is a rock/punk band. They recently released their 6th album, Lovely Little Lonely and are currently on their world tour.

2. The Mowgli’s

Most Popular Song: “San Francisco”

The Mowgli’s is a folk/pop band formed in Los Angeles, California. As a six piece ensemble, they play a lot of melody and harmonious music since three of six in the group sing together. They generally have an upbeat sound and their third album, Where’d your weekend go? was released last year.

3. The Tragic Thrills

Most Popular Song: “Ain’t Scared”

The Tragic Thrills is an Indie band that is still up and coming. They have released two albums with a folky sound and meaningful lyrics.

4. Beach Weather

Most Popular Song: “Swoon”

Beach Weather, though no longer together, have quite a few great songs. Their style is a mixture between Arctic Monkeys and A Rocket to the Moon. Their songs mix strong beats with lead singer Nick Santino’s smooth voice for a soft yet heavy sound. Their final EP Chit Chat was released in 2016.

5. Parachute

Most Popular Song: “Kiss Me Slowly”

Parachute started in Charlottesville, Virginia around 2005. They manage to mix pop rock and funk in their songs with romantic lyrics and lots of church-choir-like and harmonious sounds. Their latest album, Wide Awake was released in 2016.
