Visual Arts Artist- Adriana M. Bonilla Fernández

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

There’s always more to a person than meets the eye, and this incredibly talented artist is no exception.

 Name: Adriana Maria Bonilla Fernández

Age: 19

Classification: Freshman

Favorite Food: Pizza

Hobbies: Riding her bicycle, drawing, painting, playing the piano, and writing

Major: Sociology

HCUPR: Could you describe yourself in three words?

Adriana: Sociable, creative and selective.

HCUPR: Can you tell us more about you?

Adriana: I’m like a gypsy: I move with what I’m feeling and whatever I’d like to achieve. I’m constantly exposing myself to change. My favorite transportation methods are walking, bicycling or taking train because I enjoy physical contact with other people. I like to notice the physical aspects of others because that is what my art is, what it’s specialized at.

HCUPR: What is something not many people expect from you?

Adriana: I seek refuge in words when I’m searching for inner peace.

HCUPR: Favorite quote?

Adriana: “Hablando se llega a Roma.”

HCUPR: What does art make you feel?

Adriana: Like everybody, I have my insecurities, but I find my security and stability in my drawings. My life is a changing world, and art is my constant.

HCUPR: What is your favorite drawing and why?

Adriana: I have a piece of art that shows a woman kissing a hand. I identify myself with it a lot because when I was younger, I practiced kissing on my own hands. The fact that it is a woman’s hand alludes to my nostalgia for those moments. In the drawing, butterflies rise from below, representing the magic of the first kiss mixed with the innocence of childhood and love, Eros.

This looks like a black and white photograph but is actually a drawing! Amazing, right?
