Our seventh couple made us laugh a lot! These two understand that relationships are something that need to be cared for and worked on every day, but most importantly they comprehend each other. Though one might be more outgoing than the other or another might be more outspoken, knowing those differences that complement each other will help in the long run!

Cute Campus Couple

Andrea Rivera & David Rivera

How’d you two meet?

DR: Well, long story short, she’s the sister of a friend that invited me to go see cheerleading in Maya.

AR: En Las Justas.

DR: En Las Justas! The thing is that I was studying, and he tells me that, and I decide to go. In half an hour I get my stuff, get ready, and we meet up. He ends up introducing me to a couple of people and one of them was Andrea.

AR: And my brother told him we weren’t going to end up together.

DR: It was the first thing he told me when I met Andrea.

Both at the same time.

“No van a terminar juntos.”

DR: Yeah, but that was almost two years ago!

How long have you been together?

AR: It’s going to be two years now.

DR: To be specific, one year and eight months.

AR: More or less. He’s the one that holds count! He’s more into the details.

What was the first thing you noticed about each other?

AR: I’ve always told David that the first thing that I noticed was his eyes. We were sitting down, and he took off his glasses, and we made eye contact, and yeah.

DR: So, for me, it was the first time I saw her, like, her way to see me, and the way she expressed herself. I liked thaaat! Don’t be fooled, though. At first, she wouldn’t talk. I would have to sacarle palabras.

AR: At first it was difficult because it’s hard for me to talk to someone when I’m getting to know them, but since David is very good at talking, then he would start conversations, and it was easier.

What makes your relationship work?

DR: Trust.

AR: Honestly, yes! Because we’re far away from each other most of the time. He’s in Maya, and I’m in Rio. If we don’t trust in each other, and if we don’t tell each other everything honestly, it won’t work. We try to be very honest with each other, and he would rather us solve things before going to sleep and have a peace of mind.

DR: Always before 10 pm, though.

They both laugh.

DR: I can’t stay awake after 10!

One word to describe your partner.

AR: One word to describe him? Easygoing.

DR: Incredible.

Hope you’re enjoying these, collegiettes!

When she's not on campus, you can find her browsing a bookstore (as if her TBR pile isn't big enough already!). Books and writing are what drives this girl--apart from fighting to destigmatize mental illnesses and raising awareness about the importance of consent. Josie enjoys traveling, bingeing on spicy food and a lot of sweets, blasting Bieber, and adding shows or movies to her Netflix queue that she'll never get to. Josie is a junior editor for the Rio Piedras chapter in Puerto Rico. If you want to see what else Josie is up to, you can catch her on her bookstagram.
Antoinette Luna is a Performance Studies and Comparative Literature major at the UPR. Her passions include writing, reading, and anything crafty.
