Name: Denzel Gabriel David (yes, his last name is David)

Age: 19

Major: Biology

1. HCUPR: Single or taken?

Denzel: Taken, by the most beautiful girl in the world.

2. HCUPR: What was the first thing about her that caught your attention?

Denzel: I met her at soccer practice. She was practicing and the head of our club stopped the girls’ practice in order to introduce me to them, since I was going to be practicing with the group. The thing that most caught my eye was how shy she seemed, and that got me interested in getting to know her.

3. HCUPR: What did you do to win her over, if she was so shy?

Denzel: Well, we were always making eye contact until one day I had the courage to talk to her and everything flowed from there. The first time we talked, she was practicing and I waited until her practice was over. I called her and we started talking. After I asked her name, she was so nervous, she kept messing up and answering strangely. I asked her where she was from and she told me what school she went to [laughs]. And we’ve been going on ever since.

4. HCUPR: What’s the most romantic thing you’ve done for each other?

Denzel: She knew I never had a prom and she invited me to be her date and stay that weekend with her at El Conquistador. I, on the other hand… one day that first month, I woke up at four in the morning, went over to her apartment and made breakfast. We went bike riding afterwards, then to the beach, had dinner at Chili’s, saw a movie, and obviously we couldn’t skip dessert at Froyo World. We ended the day taking a stroll through Condado. She was always hinting she wanted to do those things together so I just made them into one big day.

5. HCUPR: You two sound like very active people. Do you think sharing that quality makes you a better couple?

Denzel: Yes, we’re very active, whether it be playing soccer or at the gym. I find it’s very important to share those qualities in a relationship, especially if it’s physical activity.

6. HCUPR: How so?

Denzel: We share weekly activities together, like practicing our soccer skills in order to get better, she trains at my gym once or twice a week, and on Thursdays we take a salsa class together. I’m a person who loves sports and taking care of myself, so it’s very important to me that my partner knows I’m a healthy and physically active person so I expect the same from her.

7. HCUPR: What other qualities do you love about her?

Denzel: She’s always laughing; she’s a really happy person, is very independent with her things and is intelligent.

8. HCUPR: Last question! If you could give some advice to other couples, what would it be?

Denzel: That they understand and appreciate their partner’s individual interests, that they support each other’s goals and objectives, to maintain good communication because it’s not just about being a couple, it’s about being best friends, and to keep making each other fall in love every day since that first day without forgetting those initial little ‘tricks’, like opening the car door for her.

Nombre: Denzel Gabriel David (sí, su apellido es David)

Edad: 19

Facultad/concentración: Ciencias Naturales/Biología
