It’s important to meet people in your life that will leave you breathless. But most importantly, people that will show you not to judge a book by its cover. The kind of people that, when you meet them, you might not like them, but when you get to know them, you wonder: why didn’t I like this person before? They’re amazing! To my good fortune, this happened when I met Néstor Sánchez. I’m wary about meeting new people, so I tend to shut them out before getting to know them. When I got to know Néstor, I still laugh at myself. I have never met someone more in love with this university, with his major and with his life than this guy.
Name: Néstor A. Sánchez Rodríguez
Age: 24
Major: Marketing & Supply Chain Management
Academic Year: Senior
Relationship Status: Single
HC: If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Néstor: New Orleans, Louisiana
HC: Some of us know you’re part of the Leadership Team in the American Marketing Association (AMA), what motivated you to hold that position?
Néstor: I’m Vice-President. My motivation came from last year’s Annual Conference in New Orleans. Our past accomplishments motivated me to aspire for my position and achieve even more for our chapter.
HC: What awards did you guys win while at the AMA Annual Conference? Are you proud of what the team accomplished? Was it difficult getting those achievements?
Néstor: Awards:
- Top 25 Chapters (out of 365)
- Best T-Shirt competition
- Best Viral Social Impact Video
- Student Choice Exhibition Competition
I’m definitely proud of our accomplishments and yes, it was a lot of work. More than I expected but I have enjoyed the journey.
HC: Summarize your experience at UPRRP in 3 words
Néstor: Adventures, challenges, and family
HC: Are you looking forward to graduating? Why or why not?
Néstor: Yes and no. Yes, because it’s my sixth year and I have finished both my majors and no, because of the friends and the experiences I have gained from La IUPI…I’m going to miss those.
HC: What are 5 things that you’re going to miss about La IUPI?
- Being with my friends on my free time between classes.
- My adventures at El 8 after class.
- Our American Marketing Association chapter
- Generally, being a student at the best university in Puerto Rico.
- And obviously the sports games
HC: Talking about sports… do you consider yourself an unofficial cheerleader for our athletes? Especially at this year’s Justas?
Néstor: Not at all, I just think that there should be people that motivate our athletes alongside the cheerleaders.
HC: Are you going to give away your megaphone?
Néstor: NO.
HC: Something you would like to say to fellow seniors?
Néstor: “Make the best of your last year. The experiences at UPRRP are sometimes worth more than what you can learn in a classroom.”
