Rediscover Your Passion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Finals are over, and summer is officially here – thank goodness! Now, how are you going to spend your summer break? Some of us are busy with summer semester, work, and vacations; however, have you ever thought about rediscovering your previous hobbies?

Many students sacrifice their passions and hobbies for their degrees, and it causes them to question themselves, become frustrated, and stressed. Whether you were once an athlete, artist, dancer, singer, performer, writer, etc. I challenge you to try and re-experience your passions this summer.

Hobbies help to define us, and make us unique, regardless of our degrees. You don’t have to be a dance major to be a dancer, or an art major to be an artist. You could try taking some fun classes which pertain to your favorite activities, or try gathering some of your friends and make a party out of it!

Overall, rediscovering your hobbies can help reduce built up stress from the school year, and help you feel motivated and productive throughout the summer. Hopefully, next semester, you will bring your passion back with you to school.

I am a senior at the University of North Texas: majoring in biology with a double minor in chemistry and psychology. I am the current treasurer for Her Campus UNT, and I aspire to be a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Outside of my responsibilities, I like to play volleyball and engage in creative activities.
Orooj Syed is a senior at the University of North Texas, majoring in Biology and minoring in Criminal Justice. Between balancing her academics and extracurricular activities, she enjoys finding new places to travel and new foods to eat. Writing has always been one of her greatest passions and, next to sleeping, she considers it a form of free therapy.
