Jersey Shore is Back and I’m Loving It

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Come on, I can’t be the only one who was suuuuuper excited when it was announced the Jersey Shore cast would reunite after five years. Jersey Shore: Family Vacation chronicles the lives of Snooki, JWoww, Ronnie, Pauly, The Situation, Vinny, and Deena while they live together for one month in Miami, FL. And I have to say…I’m loving every second of it.

First of all, it’s like they were never separated. I haven’t kept up with their lives too much since the MTV series ended, but I do know asides from Snooki and JWoww, the others didn’t see each other very often. So throwing them back under one roof again would seem kind of drastic, except the Jersey connection brought them all close together again faster than before. I’m brought back to being 13 years old and sneakily watching this show when my parents were out of the house, being amazed at the crazy lives of these self-proclaimed “guidos.” Ah, memories.

Also, can we talk about how some of them now have kids?! Did anyone ever think Snooki would be a mom and Ronnie would be a dad? I still can’t believe it, because I consider them all to be drunken, spray-tanned twenty-somethings going to clubs every night. Spoiler alert: they still do this on the show, a few of them can just say they’re “taken” or a parent now. Why did their spouses allow them to do this, I will never know, but hey, I’m thoroughly entertained so I’m not complaining.

Last, but not least…the drama. Ah, the drama. In this week’s episode, it’s hinted that Ronnie still loves Sam, the girl he had a tumultuous relationship with all through out Jersey Shore. Vinny and Snooki have some ghosts of their own, and Mike…well, he’s Mike. There’s always drama surrounding him. It’s crazy that even though these are real people who have succeeded and lived life outside of MTV, they all still have the same naive, dramatic situations to deal with. I, for one, love watching it all play out, and I’m so excited it was already renewed for a second season.

Did y’all miss Jersey Shore as much as I did?
