Quaid Edwards, a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, received a ticket to Hollywood during the American Idol auditions held in Omaha, Nebraska.

Edwards was raised in Papillion, Nebraska, and is the son of Jolie Edwards, former lead singer of the band Jolie & the Wanted.  As he says in audition footage posted by American Idol, “It’s kind of funny how everything comes back around. In a way I kind of feel like I’m rekindling her dream again.”

While Edwards hasn’t had much stage experience, the judges were impressed by the raw talent he showed in his version of “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke. He received three yes votes from the judges and will be seeing them again in Hollywood.
