New Fall Lipstick Trends to Try Now

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNL chapter.

Fall has officially arrived, which means it’s time to start transitioning your wardrobe and also your makeup routine. Before you reach for your favorite maroon colored lipstick let’s take a minute. You have probably worn that color for the past 5 years. It’s 2016 and I think it’s time upgrade your lipstick game. So throw out that abused burgundy lip color and get inspired by these new lip color trends. To make it even better, all of these colors can be found at your local drug store!

Plum

This color is insanely popular right now and I think can look good on anyone. The deepness of color can range as well depending on how daring you want to be. The above shade is “Pretty in Plum,” by Maybelline

Blue

I know what you are thinking, “What is this The Hunger Games?” But before you throw shade, keep an open mind. Blue tones can actually make your teeth appear whiter and could actually look super chic with a simple eye look. Listed above is “Midnight Blue,” by Maybelline.

Greige

The nude lip is coming in hot this season. Make up brands can’t keep up creating the shade in different variations. Greige is a super cool combination of a nude with gray mixed in. It’s beyond trendy right now and can really elevate a look. The picture above is of “Gone Greige,” by Maybelline.

Black

Please say I haven’t lost you, because this color is actually a great staple to have in your lipstick collection. It can work as a custom color and deepen any lipstick shade you have. It’s also great for days where you just want to be a bad a$$ chick. Taylor Swift rocked it at the Met Gala this year too, so that’s something.

I hope you have been inspired to try a new lip color this fall. Now dig that maroon lipstick out of the trash because let’s be real, that color will never go out of style.
