Make Your Own Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNL chapter.

It’s almost Easter and that means egg-shaped candy everywhere. Before you run to the grocery store and buy up the entire chocolate selection, though, try some of these homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups peanut butter

3 cups powdered sugar

¼ cup butter, melted

2 tablespoons milk

1-2 bags chocolate chips, divided

2 tablespoons shortening

In a medium bowl, combine butter, powdered sugar, and peanut butter. The mixture should look crumbly, that’s okay! Add milk and continue to beat. It will still be crumbly.

Roll the dough into a ½ inch thick and use a cookie cutter to create the egg-shapes. If you don’t have an egg-shaped cookie cutter, be creative with your shapes!

Place the cut-outs on a cookie sheet and chill for at least an hour.

When ready to dip, melt 1 bag of chocolate chips with shortening.

Dip each egg and cover completely. Place on wax paper to set. If you need more chocolate, you can melt the second bag with more shortening.

Personally, I like these best if kept in the fridge, but they can be eaten at room temperature, too. Enjoy!
