Name: Brian Vuu
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Lincoln, NE
Major: Music Education
Relationship Status: In a relationship
Campus Involvement/Activities: I’m basically a music nut, so I’m involved with groups such as the UNL Jazz Orchestra, UNL Vocal Jazz, and the Cornhusker Marching Band. I’m also a New Student Enrollment Leader for the 2013-2014 school year.

HC: What do you like to do in your free time; any hobbies/interests?
Brian: I’m a saxophone major, so I play the saxophone A LOT. I love finding time to jam out with friends though.  Surprisingly, I also love to ballroom dance. It’s a way to just be carefree about life and I like it.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Brian: I see myself teaching.  I don’t know exactly what, or with whom, but I love teaching and watching whomever I teach grow and learn. Also, I love Lincoln—don’t get me wrong—but I’d love to live somewhere a little bit warmer.

HC: Describe your dream girl, or what you look for in a girl.
Brian: It’s all about the smile. A girl with a genuine smile has the power to control flocks of men worldwide.

HC: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
Brian: I read a book called The Thief Lord when I was really young and that book is set in Venice. The way the author described the wonders of that place has made me long to go there. Even though I’ve heard it’s a little smelly, I still need to go there.

HC: If you could change something about yourself, would you? And what would it be?
Brian: You know, I wouldn’t want anything to change instantly. The thing about being human is that we’re all flawed. I have tons of flaws, trust me. But an instant change in myself just wouldn’t be human.

HC: Any pet peeves?
Brian: I actually don’t like when people say, “What’d you say?” more than twice after not being able to hear you. Although it’s probably my fault for not speaking up, it’s just never fun to repeat what you’ve said that many times.

HC: Any embarrassing moments that we could get a laugh about?
Brian: Yeah, when I was about 2 or 3 years old I still wore diapers. I was playing in the sprinkler with my sister and my diaper started to disintegrate. And my sister yelled out “Mommy! Mommy! Something’s happening to Brian!” So my mom comes out and then starts laughing at me, goes back inside and grabs her camera, then came back out and took pictures. I was as furious as a 3 year old could get. That picture still exists and I’ve yet to see it. The memory is just too agonizing.

HC: Valentine’s Day is soon approaching—any plans?!
Brian: I haven’t really thought of anything yet. Normally my girlfriend and I just go with the flow and figure things to do when the time comes.  It’s a lot more spontaneous that way. And even I did have plans, I wouldn’t want to give them away when my girlfriend read this. That’s no fun!

HC: And of course I have to ask, what’s your favorite part of being a Husker?
Brian: My saxophone is like an extra part of me, so when I’m at a Husker game in the marching band, I use my saxophone to express all of my emotions and that is such a great feeling.
