How to Prepare for Finals Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Union chapter.

Finals week is always the most stressful part of the term. With exams counting for 20% or more, one’s final grade depends on them and stress tends to bring out the worst in everyone. Finals week seems to catch everyone by surprise since it seems to come out of nowhere. In order to avoid sleeping in a cubby in the library, here are some tips.

1.     Start early

This is always easier said than done. Begin organizing binders, catching up on all readings, and whatever else is need two weeks before finals. Having completed all assignments and finishing all your work will help ease the stress during finals week.

2.     Eat and wear whatever you want

Although spring break is right after finals week, let yourself enjoy some Reamer candy to help deal with the intense stress. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Also allow yourself to wear sweats everyday. Who cares what you look like? Everyone will be stuffed away in his or her books anyways.

3.     Sleep

This is something you hear all of the time. Sleep will help you focus and give you the ability to study and to stay organized. Although coffee will definitely help you get through finals week, sleep is a key component.

4.     Be positive

Stay optimistic during finals! Remember there’s light at the end of the tunnel with spring break! Go into each exam and tell yourself you’re going to get a good grade.

It is impossible to enjoy finals week. But it’s something every college student repetitively travels through. On the bright side, once it’s over, spring break commences!
