Tips For A Great Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNI chapter.

Are you looking for some fun and easy ways to spend your Valentine’s Day? Whether you have a significant other or a best friend that you’re spending February 14th with, these ideas will help you figure out your plans!

What to do:
If you tend to avoid crowded public places, renting a movie and making dinner and a special treat of your choice is a nice way to spend some quality time with one another. Chocolate covered strawberries are my personal favorite that are very simple and delicious. There are many ideas involving heart shaped foods such as pizza, cinnamon rolls, cakes, pancakes etc. If you don’t like baking or making, Scratch Cupcakery, located off of Main St in Cedar Falls, will provide you with tasty gourmet cupcakes. Many pizza places also make heart shaped pizzas for this special day.
If you do want to go somewhere outside the home to celebrate, I encourage you to try something new. Go to a restaurant that you’ve never been to or even a town close by that you’ve never been in. It doesn’t have to be fancy by any means, but being a little adventurous is different and exciting. Whatever you do, have some fun and make it unique.

Gifts:
How many times have you gotten chocolates and thought to yourself, great I’m going to gain 5 lbs. now, or if you’ve gotten a stuffed bear that sings and you think to yourself, do I look like I’m 10 years old? Don’t get me wrong, those are both things that anyone should be thankful for, but instead of buying gifts, try making them. You’ll have fun creating something special and you’ll also end up saving a ton of money. There are great gift ideas on Pinterest, a website that that lets you browse people’s crafty ideas from all around the world. Simply making a card expressing your appreciation for someone can go a long way and is usually better than any other gift.

Hope these couple of tips helps you have a fun and exciting Valentine’s Day!
