DIY Make up Board

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNI chapter.

I was browsing Pinterest one day when I came across this really neat makeup board. For those of you who don’t have a Pinterest account, I advise you to get one. You will never be bored again! Caution: it will sometimes distract you from everything and anything school related. So anyway, the makeup board is such a convenient concept. You will be able to see all of your makeup, instead of trying to rummage through a makeup bag to get the right color. I will provide you with the steps you need to create a lovely and handy makeup board.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Picture Frame, size depending upon how big you would like it
  • Scrapbook paper or a fabric with your choice of design on it
  • Sheet metal
  • Magnets
  • Hot glue/hot glue gun or super glue
  • Your personal makeup

Step 1:First off is getting all the things you need. Go to your nearest Goodwill or thrift store to find a super cheap frame. I got mine for $1! Next is to go to your hardware store to get some sheet metal that fits your frame. Then you’ll need to go to your nearest craft store to pick up magnets and scrapbook paper or fabric to cover the sheet metal. Don’t forget some super glue or hot glue from the craft store. I only spent a total of $7 at Hobby Lobby!

Step 2: You’ll need to hot glue the scrapbook paper or fabric to the sheet metal so that it makes the makeup board more appealing.

Step 3:Then next thing you’ll need to do is place the metal sheet inside the frame. You may need to cut the sheet metal depending on the size of it. Most frames come with hinges in the back of them that keep the glass in place, so just use those to keep the metal in place.

Step 4: Now you’re at the point where you can start hot gluing the magnets on to your makeup. I just got round 1/2″ magnets from the craft store so that they would fit on all of my eye shadows.

Step 5: Now that you’ve glued on all the magnets you can do the most exciting part. Place all your makeup on the board and be very proud of your latest creation!

There you have it! A chic, convenient way to store your make up for a low cost.
