A Day At the Spa… In Your Kitchen??

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNI chapter.

We could all use a “spa weekend” about every weekend. But who has the time or money for that? Here are four great ways that cover all the basics for feeling glamorous. The best part is that you probably have all the items you need for this beauty—they can all be found in your pantry.

For Your Face and Body: Oatmeal Face or Body Wash

Oatmeal ins’t just good for you to eat, but it is also great for your skin. Oatmeal helps leave your skin looking smooth and can take out redness. Mix together equal amounts of warm honey and lemon juice. Stir in three parts instant oatmeal until the substance turns into paste. Apply to your face, rinse then wash off and rinse with warm water. You can also use this same remedy as a body wash, too!

For Your Hair: Vinegar Hair Cleaner

Substitute your usual conditioner with vinegar twice a month and you will improve your hair’s silkiness and shine. A helpful hint is to not use dark or expensive vinegars. Cider or white vinegar gives you great results and the best part is it’s a lot more inexpensive.

For Your Eyes: Tea Bag Eye Rejuvenator

To reduce puffiness, many people place cucumbers over their eyes, which works great. But placing black brewed tea bags is even better. Place the tea bags on your eyelids for about five minutes.

For Your Teeth: Baking Soda Teeth Cleaner

One teaspoon of baking soda mixed together with a ¼ teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide will clean your teeth and leave them squeaky clean with a beautiful smile.

So forget the expensive spas. Look in your kitchen pantry for an inexpensive spa day at home. All of these home spa remedies were found at chow.com. Check out the site for more great in-home spa tips!
