Senioritis I Promise You It’s Real!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Senoritis is a real thing! Spring Break was the halfway mark of second semester. All you want to do is be back in the sunshine and warm weather instead of these cold spring days. The time has come where reality starts to sink in, it is time to register for commencement, take senior pictures and purchase a cap and gown. Slowly, you start to realize that your life will be very different in just a few months. Lately you just don’t feel like doing anything. Instead of doing homework or studying something better always grabs your attention whether Netflix, your friends wanting to watch a movie or even going out on a Tuesday. If those thoughts and feelings sound familiar to you, you definitely have Senioritis. Here are three main symptoms of Senoritis.

1. I have no desire to do anything. I just want to watch Netflix!

Trying to go to class and look like a human being is just a struggle. You realize in class you can’t focus wishing you were somewhere else or hoping that class will be over soon. As all you really want is to do is put sweatpants on, have a glass of wine, and watch your favorite series on Netflix.

2. I have to do…oh wait that is such a better idea!

We all have that idea in our mind of haven’t we learned enough and they want us to do what that’s not fair don’t they realize we are Seniors. There comes a time where another option always looks better. I have to do so much homework but the mall or going out on Tuesday for drinks looks so much better. Even on Sundays who doesn’t want to stay in bed, go get a JB or even a brunch trip to the Big Bean.

3. What am I going to do with the rest of my life? Am I going to be unemployed forever?

At the beginning of the semester you were confident and ready to get your perfect dream job. All of a sudden time is running out its second semester and you are having a metal breakdown because either you aren’t qualified enough or you are qualified, but it pays less than you ever expected.

As much as it might be a struggle trying to get through all this school work, in the end it’s worth it. Seniors soak up every second of the time we have left at UNH. We’re in the home stretch, so we may as well enjoy every moment we have left and embrace the end of the Wildcat Chapter!
