Just when we think celebrity’s lives are so glamorous, we see a new face on the Hollywood headlines for who went to rehab this week. Clearly the celebrity lifestyle is not all it is cracked up to be. Though it seems that all stars go to rehab at one point or another, here’s one we were probably not expecting, Selena Gomez? It was reported that the 21-year-old singer and actress actually checked herself into rehab for mental health reasons. After a recommended 45-day stay at Dawn at the Meadows Rehabilitation center in Arizona, she left after two weeks. The Dawn program treats a number of addictions specifically for ages 18-24.
It’s reported that the former Disney star did not want to return to rehab now that everyone knows she went. Family and friends tried convincing her many times to go back but she went against their opinions and did just the opposite.
“It has become clear to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be,” Gomez reported.
She has been working herself into the ground since age fifteen through acting, singing, dancing and more. It is no question how the pressures of the Hollywood lifestyle can take a toll on the mind and body. Sources close to Gomez say that she blames Bieber for her necessary rehab visit. Some say that she was “addicted to Justin Bieber.” Shortly after the breakup she was seen hanging out with Beiber. It is no surprise that Bieber is known as a partier. While Selena’s life revolved around Justin and his friends, clearly his bad partying habits rubbed off on her. Though no longer in rehab, Gomez is choosing to get well on her own.
