It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season is right around the corner along with the most stressful time of our semester…FINALS WEEK! I live in an apartment with 7 of my best friends and here are some activities we’ve done over the years to stay stress free from our work loads and to enjoy this jolly time of the year!
1. Wine glass decorating
Just run to your local Christmas Tree Shop or craft store to purchase plain wine glasses, either red or white wine (whatever you prefer!), ceramic pant, and glitter! If you aren’t an expert when it comes to paint brushes, Sharpie has paint markers you can purchase!
2. Ornament decorating
Pick up some glass ornaments, Christmas confetti to fill the transparent ornaments, paint, and some ribbon to tie in a bow to hang on the tree!
3. Christmas cards to friends and family
To remind our families back at home how much we are thinking of them during the holidays, my roommates and I take a “family photo” and make a Christmas card at the local drug store and mail out to our families. This year we are wearing our ugly Christmas sweaters!
4. Bake cookies and make some hot chocolate
As we are counting down the days til Christmas, we love getting together watching Christmas movies…and you can’t watch a Christmas classic without some Christmas cookies and hot chocolate! Our favorites are the Pillsbury Christmas sugar cookies and also the classic gooey chocolate chip cookies.
5. Have an ugly sweater party
If you didn’t already raid your grandmothers or mothers closets filled with vintage ugly sweaters, drive to your local salvation army or savors to pick up that hideous Christmas knit.
6. Secret Santa
We are all on a budget being college students, but still want to spread the holiday cheer since it is the season of giving. Pick names out of a hat for secret santas! Make a maximum for spending that everyone agrees with!
Put on your favorite holiday playlist, starting baking cookies, making paper snowflakes, and begin celebrating the most wonderful time of the year!
