Everything a girl should know about staying cool during basement parties..

We’ve all spent countless hours perfecting our hair before going out on a Saturday night. Chances are though you’ve struggled with maintaining your mane throughout the night hours. The heat and humidity in a basement party is no good for our hair and often leaves it lying flat and sweaty (definitely a no). Here are some tips to avoid that “Is that what I really look like?!” moment:

Style Appropriately
During the early months from September to November and the late months from March to June, it can get REALLY hot in those basement parties. And while we all love to style our hair up in luscious curls or sexy up-dos, is it really worth it? By nights end we often find our curls in tangled messes and our up-dos lying flat and lifeless. Recommendation: Keep it simple. Style your hair in a simple, pretty way that will also keep you cooler. Try a cute bumped pony or a pretty half-up ‘do. French braids are trending now and they can be a super cute way to get those bangs out of your face. These styles will minimize the amount of hair on your neck and face, keeping you way more comfortable throughout the night.

(We’ve all been there, the post party afro.)

Pack a hair-tie
If you don’t live with a hair-tie on your wrist, you need to. What better and easier way to cool yourself down than to throw your locks up into an easy pony? This will keep hair off your neck and leave you feeling better to keep the night going while still. Don’t forget to pack a cheap headband or some bobby pins too. The will be a must in dealing with unruly bangs. If you insist on leaving your hair down, packing a cheap brush will also help take care of tangled hair ruined by the heat and humidity.

Baby powder
Sweating is always a turn off, but when sweat is and leaving our locks lifeless and looking greasy, then it really becomes a problem. Baby powder will act as a sort of deodorant for your hair. Dab a bit on your scalp to soak up any sweat, comb it through, and you’ll be looking just as fresh as when you left. A small container of baby powder can be bought at almost any store selling body care products and is very inexpensive. It should always be stowed away in your party bag.

(Our savior!)

These tips should help you tame your mane during those hot nights and help avoid that horrible “Oh God” mirror moment. Good luck looking great girls!!
