This year has been challenging for everyone. We’ve all seen or experienced struggles and hardships. Most will be happy to say goodbye to 2020 and all of the negative things that have come from it. We also need to realize all of the positives that have come from this difficult year. From trying a fun new craft to reshaping your outlook on life, 2020 has brought many new and positive changes.

Many people shared the hobbies and interests they picked up during quarantine on social media sites like Tik Tok. Knitting, painting, jewelry making, tie dying and sewing were taking over the internet. What better time to try that craft you’ve been wanting to try than when you’re stuck at home for months?

Even the most social butterflies need breaks from being around people, and time to recharge alone. This year has given us all a break from socializing, which can get exhausting sometimes! People who struggle with social anxiety, or anyone else that just needed a break from the world, have had months to recharge and have some much needed alone time.

We’ve also had to adapt to new ways of using technology, whether you go to school, work or just want to communicate with your friends and family. We’ve all learned new communication and problem solving skills, which will be beneficial in the future with jobs or any struggles we’ll have to overcome. Learning new skills is always helpful no matter where you are or what you do.

The biggest lesson I think we’ve all learned is to be grateful for what you have, and not take anything for granted. The things we miss like going to concerts, traveling, parties, even random trips to Target with your friends, seem more meaningful now. The spontaneous trips and memories we have from pre-COVID times are moments we can look forward to post-COVID.

It’s difficult to see the light during all of the dark times that 2020 has brought us. But this will end, and we need to take this year to grow and look forward to the next few years using the things we learned in the year that we’ll never forget.
