College Fashion Week 2017: New York City

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

On September 30, 2017, I had the amazing opportunity to go to this year’s College Fashion Week in NYC hosted by the amazing Her Campus Media! My wonderful roommate and fellow writer for our Her Campus Chapter traveled down to Connecticut (where I’m from) and took a train into the city Saturday afternoon.

The event started around 6pm, so we got there an hour early to make sure we’d get a first look at what the event had in store for us. After scanning our tickets, we were gifted with these adorable gift bags full of awesome goodies (makeup, a book, a Primark gift card, dry shampoo, fancy cocktail napkins, on-the-go manicure kit, and so much more).

When we first walked in, we were greeted by a mini photo shoot setup where Natalie and I took a couple snapshots before moving on.

In the middle of the room there was the walkway with rows of chairs around it. Everything else circled the walkway. There was a bead head station where consultants asked what our biggest hair struggle was and gave us a free product to help out! Afterwards they had artists draw you digitally on some Ipads. Next to them was the Ulta booth, where the consultants would give you a free makeover.

In the far-left corner of the room, there was a Primark pop up boutique showing the latest fashion trends. On the other side of the room, Spindrift gave out some yummy sparkling water while Shake Shack was there taking care of our sweet cravings with some ice cream (which I may have had three cups of… oops).

Finally, around 7pm, the show officially started. Up and coming R&B singer Trinidad Cardona opened up the show with a few of his bumping songs to get the crowd going. Afterwards, the fashion show began. The models were beautiful and fierce college women, showing that everyone can be a Boss Girl. All of the hair and makeup was done by the Bed Head and Ulta consultants, while the girls were dressed in some of the hottest trends from Primark and smaller fashion designers. Velvet, floral booties, and denim are so in for this season. If you’re curious to see what these outfits looked like in detail, they are all on the app called Lust Have!

Eventually, the night came to a close and we went home with arms full of goodies and an experience worth remembering.

Thank you to Her Campus and all of the wonderful vendors who made this event possible!

Hello! I'm Julianna and I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a major in BFA: Photography and a minor in Business Administration. I was a Contributing Writer to the Her Campus UNH Chapter beginning in October 2016. In September 2017, I got promoted to Senior Editor, and then I was one of UNH's Campus Correspondents for the Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 school year! This organization was such an incredible experience and I can't wait to see what great things the chapter does in the future. HCXO, Julianna :) http://juliannasagliano.com/
