The Bachelor Recap: Best Episode This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

This week we went to the Bahamas! Oh, but before that there was a quick rose ceremony from the week before where Ben sent Jennifer home (who…?) Let’s proceed. Off they went to the Bahamas which really only included stormy waves, stormy skies and lot’s of emotions. Before the week 6 recap begins, I do want to give a quick shout out to Olivia, who we loved to see go (sorry sister), but are also wondering if she ever made it off the island (?).

One-on-One: Caila

The conversation Ben and Caila had during dinner is still very unclear at this time, but it went somewhere along the lines of her feeling like she’s in love with him, but she also feels like she’s scared of breaking his heart. Ben get’s confused and while trying to better explain herself, she ended up telling him that she’s a confusing person and this is a confusing situation and that she’s afraid she’s confused Ben. You did Caila, you confused us all.

Apparently Ben was SO confused that he had absolutely no idea what Caila said and gave her the rose, but that wasn’t surprising.

Group Date:

Lauren B., Becca, Amanda, JoJo, Lauren H., and Leah were the six girls Ben chose to watch feed and play get attacked with the swimming pigs. As a sidenote, this possibly wins for most hilarious Bachelor scene ever.

The date turned pretty awkward pretty quick when Ben and Lauren B.’s connection was made apparent (I don’t hate it). Leah DEFINITELY hated it because she told Ben that Lauren B. acts different in the house than she does in front of him. Not only was this completely out of NO WHERE, but it also left me feeling personally attacked (because I love Lauren B. and we practically have the same name).  The rose at the end of the date went to Amanda. Later that night, Leah snuck up to Ben’s room to reiterate her lie from earlier, which only resulted in Ben giving her the boot. Goodbye, I won’t miss you.

Two-on-One: Emily and Olivia

To my pleasant surprise, this date actually ended way different than I thought it would. Here’s what went down. Emily and Olivia took a boat ride with Ben to a private island. Probably the most un-romantic thing I have ever seen. Super awkward and also super stormy. Bad vibes all around. Olivia talked about herself (per usual) and told Ben she’s in love with him and that she’s feeling confident. After his boring conversation with Emily, Ben picked up the rose and brought Olivia aside. What she thought was Ben giving her the rose, was actually Ben sending her home. Took long enough. The date ended with Ben and Emily boating back to the main land, while Olivia was left crying without a rose and without a boat ride back.

Rose Ceremony:

Ben was too exhausted and cancelled the cocktail party. Caila, Amanda and Emily each had roses. Becca, JoJo and Lauren B. got the final three roses and Lauren H. was sent home.

The best part of the episode was the preview for the rest of the season, which legitimately prohibited me from falling asleep because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Is Ben seriously going to pull a Jason Mesnick? All we see is Ben sending a girl home and then whipping out his cell phone to bring her back.

I literally paused, rewinded, played, paused and repeated 11 times trying to figure out which voice answered, “Hello?”. Was it Lauren B.? Was it JoJo? Was it Becca or Amanda or Caila? Maybe his Mom? Possibly Adele?

Until next Monday, ladies.

This is the general account for the University of New Hampshire chapter of Her Campus! HCXO!
