A New Hampshire Summer

Updated Published
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

As a New Hampshire native, I have grown up going to numerous state parks and outdoor attractions. Short day trips to the seacoast or the mountains of northern New Hampshire were the highlights of my childhood summers, and I would like to say I am an expert when it comes to the classic New Hampshire spots.

With summer quickly approaching, here is a list of my top five favorite classic New Hampshire locations to visit with your friends:

Prescott Park Arts Festival

Located in the center of downtown Portsmouth, NH, Prescott Park is home to a beautiful venue located right on the water. Prescott Park Arts Festival hosts a variety of events over the summer, with the most common being music festivals and performances, movie showings, professional theater shows and musical performances. Bring a lawn chair and some snacks, and enjoy a live concert or performance!

ALpine Adventures

If you aren’t scared of heights and are feeling adventurous, I would highly recommend visiting Alpine Adventures! Alpine Adventures is located in Lincoln, NH, and offers three different types of zipline tours that range in difficulty and overall height of the course. This type of adventure is definitely for the adrenaline junkies out there!

Polar Caves

The Polar Caves are a fun outdoor attraction in Rumney, NH, that guide you through the spaces between fallen rock boulders. The Polar Caves formed during the last Ice Age and created a series of caves and passageways that can be explored. There are a total of nine granite caves that you can explore by ducking, squeezing and crawling through the spaces of the boulders.

Diana’s Bath

Located in Bartlett, NH, with a short 15-minute easy hike, you can visit the cascading waterfall of Diana’s Baths. Diana’s Baths is a series of pools and cascades that make it a perfect spot to visit on a hot summer day. The water flow in the summer is greatly reduced, making it safe to wade and swim in the pools of the waterfall.

Flume Gorge

Flume Gorge is a self-guided two-mile walk in Lincoln, NH, that takes you through cascading waterfalls, glacial pools, boulders and other stunning sites. This picturesque location is perfect for when you want to get outside and explore on a warm, sunny day.
