7 Things To Do on Valentine’s Day When You’re Single

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

V-Day doesn’t have to be full of weeping while scrolling through photos of couples on Instagram. Here’s a few ways to brighten your holiday!

1. Have A GNI (Girls Night In)

Who says you need boys to have fun? Invite all your (single) girlfriends over and celebrate being single with homemade face masks, Netflix, take out and pints of Ben & Jerry’s.

2. Or Plan A GNO

Get together with a few of your best girls and party until you forget you’re single this Valentine’s Day! Whether you go on your own dates or hit the bars, as long as you have your GF’s nothing can go wrong.

3. Treat Yo Self

You don’t need a boy to buy you flowers and nice jewelry. Spend your day at the salon for a massage and a mani-pedi. If that still isn’t enough, hit the mall for some serious retail therapy.

4. Pretend Like It’s Not V-Day

If you ask me, it’s a stupid holiday anyways. Go to class, hit the gym and catch up on some homework just like any other day. No need to upset yourself with watching romance movies all night alone.

5. Plan A Quick Get Away With Some Friends

Spend time with some friends you haven’t seen in a while! Maybe go visit some friends at different colleges or plan to all meet in the city for the night.  Galentine’s Day is better anyways!

6. Spend The Night Alone

This could be depressing but relaxing at the same time. Grab a bath bomb and fill up your tub and just grab your favorite book. You could always buy yourself your own flowers, who says only boys can do that? Finish the night with some baking – that always makes me feel better.

7. Spend Time With Family

Valentine’s Day is about love, not just boys. Since your family is always there for you, spend V-Day with the people who love you the most. Treat them to a nice day instead of complaining that you don’t have a guy to do it for you. Or even better- spend the day cuddling with your dog. Spread the love!
