7 Quotes by Lucas Scott to Value

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Disregard my fangirling, but praise Lucas Scott and his way with words. There are many instances on One Tree Hill where Lucas Scott has captured my attention. He has a way of wording things that not only make you swoon, but also make you think, relating the lessons to your own life. He’s a courageous character with a humble literary mind. Here are some of my favorites!

“Do you ever wonder if we make the moments in our lives, or if the moments in our lives make us?”

We’re told time and time again that life moves so fast and we need to treasure the moments (especially in college). Remember to value the friends you made and the the things that matter to you (sorority life, events held by the clubs you’re involved in). Lucas reminds us that moments help to shape us into better people! They add to the life we’re living, so it’s important to make them count!

“Sometimes, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one in the world who’s struggling, who’s frustrated, or unsatisfied, or barely getting by. That feeling is a lie. And if you just hold on, just find the courage to face it all for another day, someone or something will find you and make it all okay, because we all need a little help sometimes, someone to help us hear the music in the world, to remind us that it won’t always be this way. That someone is out there, and that someone will find you.”

This quote is so relatable and just gives us a little push to keep going! We all go through that feeling of giving up when we’re working so hard for something. Lucas Scott assures us that everyone goes through this feeling, but the important thing is to keep pushing; to keep moving forward. The “music” in the world is the positivity that we push aside too often and forget to value it.

“I can never give up my best friend”

Spoiler alert!! Prior to Haley and Nathans wedding, Lucas is talking to Haley in this scene. They have been friends since they were little and now, Haley will become part of the family, as if she wasn’t before. Lucas demonstrates for us how important our friends are, to share our times of struggles as well as our bliss.

“If you look closer, you might see: Someone trying to find their way… their place…their self.”

His cool, collected voice beams as he begins typing this line. Here, Lucas begins writing pieces of an amature novel. Don’t be quick to judge someone until you listen to their story. Your peers, as well as strangers you haven’t met yet, are either finding their way through this world, finding their place to reside and make their mark, or finding their self and what makes them whole.

“You’re the one I want next to me when my dreams come true”

*cue the sighs and ahhs* Ladies, love is out there! You shouldn’t have to search for it but instead, it will find you at the right time. According to #3 on the Tree Hill Ravens, the boy for you will be by your side in support of you fulfilling your dreams.

“That’s what true love really is. It’s not the fairy tale life that never knows the pain, but it’s two souls facing it together and diminishing it with unconditional love.”

*cue the sighs and dreaming* Even though the scenes in OTH can dramatize love and make us fantasize our own idea of relationships, true love is not the fairy tale that we come to know as little girls growing up. Instead, it’s going through good times and bad times with another person who cares for you. That person will stick by you through thick and thin if they truly love you.

“What’s more important: what we become or how we become it?”

We can continue to ask ourselves this question as we go through the college-years and beyond. What really is more important: what we become in the world or how we became it? Did you have to jump through hurdles to get where you are today? Can you say that you’re stronger as each day ends? Lucas Scott proposes a great question and I think the answer lies in us individually because everyone strives to be something different and we all took a different road to get there.

Thank you, Lucas Scott for providing word-junkies like me such intelligent and beautiful advice and phrases to value. Girls, I hope you like these lines as much as I do and keep them in mind when moving forward!

Hi I'm Bri! I'm an English major with a minor in Communication from CT. I've been a Contributing Writer to the Her Campus UNH Chapter since October 2016. For the Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 school year, I was promoted to Senior Editor. The women at HC-UNH are truly amazing, displaying strength and emotion in their writing. I love being a part of the team, and reading many perspectives on music, academics, life, and relationships.
