With the Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire premiering this month, what better way to celebrate than expressing our admiration for Jennifer Lawrence? Not only is she a role model onscreen as character Katniss Everdeen, but the perfect role model for all ages off-screen as well. She may have been blessed with good looks, humor and top notch acting skills, but she shows the world that she is unlike any other. Even if that means posing in her Oscars gown middle finger up. She is truly one of a kind. Here are just 5 of the uncountable reasons why we love Jennifer Lawrence.
1. She hates dieting but loves junk food
Every heard of a celebrity that doesn’t diet? Well Jennifer Lawrence is one of the unique few. Lawrence was told to lose weight at the start of her acting career and that if she refused then she would never be successful. She really proved them wrong. “If anyone tries to even whisper the word diet, I’m like you can go f**k yourself,” she says. When asked about the components of her Oscar purse she responds, “Candy, almonds, my phone, a Baby Ruth, Laffy Taffy.”
2. She can laugh at herself
We all remember the epic fall of Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars. Being only the second youngest actress to ever win an Oscar, on her way up the stairs to claim the “Best Actress” award she trips in front of the crowd. As the audience responded with a standing ovation, she joked, “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell.” Later that night, in the pressroom she was photographed jokingly “flipping the bird.” After that fall she could get away with anything!
3. She tells it like it is
Lawrence is not one to hide her funny sarcastic personality. In fact, she says exactly what she wants, when she wants. Dressed in beautiful gowns, she leaves the audience spellbound with the things that come out of her mouth. She uses humor and honesty to get her point across. In an interview with Glamour magazine she responds truthfully to the question what does she do in her free time? “If I don’t have anything to do all day, I might not even put my pants on.” When asked if she liked Dance Moms on live TV she answers sarcastically, “Does a bear shit in the woods.”
4. She supports her fans
When walking the red carpet for Catching Fire, Lawrence noticed a young girl crying in a wheel chair. She moved the crowd aside and rushed off the red carpet to console her. Lawrence gave the girl a hug and took a picture with her. She even interrupted an interview!
5. She’s Modest
Unlike many stars in the Hollywood world, Lawrence does not let fame get to her head. Though she was blessed with beauty and great talent, she remains modest at all times. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actress discusses keeping her work and fame in perspective. She tells them, “Everybody’s like, ‘How can you remain with a level head?’ And I’m like, ‘Why would I ever get cocky? I’m not saving anybody’s life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I’m making movies. It’s stupid.’” Jennifer also stores her Oscar award at her family’s house in Kentucky to avoid showing it off in her own house. Talk about humble!
