Julia Russell, Watson Student Leader

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

Name: Julia Russell

Major: Elementary Education

Hometown: Midlothian, Virginia

Year: Junior

As a member of the Watson Student Leaders, Julia is heavily involved in the education program here at UNCW. She loves working with children and one day, in the near future, she hopes to be teaching in second grade classroom. Watson Student Leaders has helped Julia realize her full potential, so she can be a better teacher after college.

HC: What is Watson Student Leaders?

JR: Watson Student Leaders is an organization within the Watson College of Education full of Education students who represent the College through leadership, professionalism and service of past, present, and future Watson Alumni. We host events for the College, provide tours for elementary and middle school students, and talk to underclassmen at UNCW about how to become an education major.

HC: How did you get involved with WSL?

JR: I received an email last fall about joining WSL and thought it seemed like a great way to network within Watson, as well as meet other Education majors.

HC: What is your favorite part about WSL?

JR: My favorite part of WSL is talking to underclassmen about the amazing field of Education and (hopefully) inspiring them to become Education majors as well. I also love to work so closely with many of the professors in Watson College.

HC: What else are you involved in on campus?

JR: I am part of Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Fraternity.

HC: What are your plans after college?

JR: I plan to be an elementary school teacher and hopefully have a second grade classroom!
