Anna Joy Zima, Advertising Chair of Schwoodstock

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

A Communication Studies major, Anna Joy Zima is always looking for opportunities to expand her advertising and public relation skills. Aside from being an involved Communication Studies student, Anna also joined the Schwoodstock committee. Schwoodstock, a UNCW music festival that takes place between Schwartz Hall and the University Suites, brings the UNCW community together in a unique manner. As the Advertising Chair for the event, Anna spread the word across campus and kept students up-to-date on the details.

HC: What is Schwoodstock?

AZ: Schwoodstock is free music festival that focuses on music, food, sustainability and awareness

HC: What were your role and responsibilities?

AZ: I was Advertising chair on the committee. I was in charge of promoting Schwoodstock. I run the social media, create posters and speak at promotional events on Schwoodstock’s behalf. However, Schwoodstock was team effort by the committee. I had help from the other committee members and I helped them with anything they needed.

HC: How did you get involved?

AZ: I went to Schwoodstock last year just to enjoy the music. In January I was asked by one of the co-chairs to join the committee and I couldn’t say no!

HC:What else are you involved in at UNCW?

AZ: I am a Transfer to Teal Guide. As a T3 guide, I give tours of the university to transfer students. I am also a member of Communication Studies Society and Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Studies Honors Society.

HC: As an upperclassman, any advice to younger students?

AZ: Get involved! There are over 200 clubs and organizations on campus. It is important to find a club or organization that interests you and get involved. You’ll make friends that share the same interests and create lasting relationships.
